Tobias Rausch works as a director, author and lecturer. After studying philosophy, biology and literature, he founded the performance collective lunatiks and staged productions at numerous municipal and state theaters and in the independent scene. From 2019 to 2024 he directed the Bürger:Bühne at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. He teaches regularly at universities, including the Berlin University of the Arts, the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Zurich University of the Arts. He has received numerous awards and scholarships for his work, including the Otto Kasten Prize from the Intendants' Group at the German Stage Association in 2012 and 1st prize in the NO!peras competition of the Experimental Music Theater Fund in 2019. Together with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, IASS Potsdam and nachtkritik, he curated the 2019 "Climate meets Theater" conference in Berlin.
