Stephan Lorenz ist Senior Fellow am IASS und apl. Professor für Soziologie an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Er hat u.a. geforscht zu Biokonsum im Kontext von BSE-Krise und Agrarwendepolitik; zu Lebensmittel-Tafeln/Food Banks als Ausdruck sozialer Ausgrenzung und restriktiver Wohlfahrtsstaatsentwicklung in den Überflussgesellschaften; zum sog. Bienensterben, Bestäubungskrise und neueren Imkereientwicklungen; zu ökologischer Wachstumskritik und nachhaltigen Entwicklungsoptionen. Empirisch-explorative Forschungen gehören ebenso zu seinen Arbeiten wie Gesellschaftstheorien und Gegenwartsdiagnosen. Aktuell arbeitet er v.a. zu Verfahrenstheorie/ -methodologie.
